Description:
We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented entry level IT Support Specialist (Part-Time) to support our global IT team. This position is based in New York City and reports to the Director of IT Operations. It is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced enterprise IT environment.
The IT Support Specialist (Part-Time) will support day-to-day IT operations tasks, with a focus on device setup, account provisioning, and hardware inventory management. This role is ideal for someone eager to learn the fundamentals of IT operations and endpoint management in a real-world corporate setting.
This is a permanent part-time position working up to 16 hours per week.
What You'll Do
Key Responsibilities
Device Setup & Configuration
- Assist with unboxing, imaging, and initial configuration of new employee devices (macOS and Windows).
- Apply standard software baselines and configuration settings under guidance of IT Operations team at large.
- Prepare devices for new hire onboarding, ensuring they are ready for Day 1 use.
- Help document device setup steps and update existing SOPs as processes evolve.
Account Setup & Access Provisioning
- Support the creation and configuration of new employee accounts across core platforms (e.g., Microsoft 365, Entra ID).
- Assist with group assignments, license provisioning, and basic access control tasks under IT team supervision.
- Help configure accounts in tools such as Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, and Exchange Online.
- Assist with account deprovisioning during employee offboarding as directed.
Hardware Inventory Management
- Maintain accurate records of hardware assets, including laptops, accessories, and peripherals.
- Assist with receiving, tagging, and logging new equipment into the asset tracking system.
- Help conduct periodic audits of hardware inventory to ensure records are up to date.
- Support the retrieval and logging of equipment during employee offboarding.
General IT Support
- Provide basic Tier 1 support for common endpoint issues, escalating to the Desktop Administrator as needed.
- Assist with IT-related tasks for onboarding and offboarding workflows.
- Shadow senior IT team members to learn MDM platform operations (JumpCloud, NinjaOne) and endpoint lifecycle management.
Must Haves
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Basic familiarity with Windows and/or macOS operating systems.
- A detail-oriented, organized approach to tasks—especially when handling hardware and account records.
- Eagerness to learn IT operations fundamentals in a hands-on corporate environment.
- Good communication skills and a collaborative, team-player attitude.
- Ability to follow documented procedures and ask questions when unsure.
Nice to Have
- Exposure to Microsoft 365 tools (Outlook, Teams, SharePoint) from a user or admin perspective.
- Any coursework or personal experience with IT support, networking, or systems administration.
- Familiarity with help desk or ticketing systems (e.g., Jira, ServiceNow, or similar).
