Position Overview:
- Moderately experienced Level 1 IT Support Technician to provide hands-on help desk and technical support across multiple power plant locations in the New York City area.
- This role requires a self-sufficient technician who can independently troubleshoot and resolve day-to-day IT issues while traveling between sites.
- Prior field support experience and is comfortable working in industrial environments with minimal supervision.
Responsibilities:
- Provide break/fix support for desktops, laptops, printers, and other hardware
- Perform printer troubleshooting and repair, including connectivity and hardware issues
- Support computer replacement, setup, and basic configuration
- Troubleshoot office applications, PDFs, and common end-user software issues
- Deliver basic network support, including:
- Connecting to switches
- Understanding patch panels
- Basic IP addressing and connectivity troubleshooting
- Assist end users with varying technical skill levels, including shared workstation environments
- Respond to and resolve daily help desk requests and on-site technical issues
- Travel between multiple sites across Queens, Staten Island, and Brooklyn on a rotating schedule
- Adhere to all safety protocols when working in power plant environments
Required Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Level 1 IT Support Technician (not entry-level or intern)
- Strong troubleshooting skills for:
- Desktop and laptop systems
- Printers and peripheral devices
- Working knowledge of basic networking concepts (switches, patch panels, IP addressing)
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Must be local to the NYC area and available for emergency support if needed
- Comfortable working in industrial/power plant environments with safety requirements
- Access & Technical Environment
- Limited Active Directory access initially
- Access level similar to intern/junior support:
- Membership in local support group
- Local administrator rights on supported machines
