Description:
The IT Systems Analyst III will provide front line support for laptops, desktops, printers, and other associated equipment. This position will be responsible for providing support for patch management, end-point’s security protection, NetMotion, RCM, Remedy Force work order management, and to coordinate the support services of vendors, end users, and other internal staff to successfully complete assigned projects. The Systems Analyst III will also ensure that support vendors are meeting and exceeding expectations regarding performance, meeting defined metrics/benchmarks, and to ensure that standards and processes are followed to provide effective customer service and meet technical standard requirements.
Essential Duties
- Hardware Installation and Maintenance: Install, configure, and maintain desktop hardware components such as CPUs, RAM, hard drives, graphics cards, and peripherals like printers and scanners.
- Software Installation and Configuration: Install, update, and configure operating systems, drivers, and software applications on desktop computers, ensuring compatibility and functionality.
- Troubleshooting Technical Issues: Diagnose and resolve hardware and software problems encountered by end-users, providing timely and effective solutions to minimize downtime through on-site support.
- User Account Management: Create, modify, and manage user accounts, permissions, and access rights in various systems and applications, ensuring security and compliance with organizational policies.
- Data Backup and Recovery: Implement and maintain backup procedures to protect critical data, and perform data recovery operations when necessary to restore lost or corrupted files.
- System Updates and Patch Management: Monitor and apply system updates, patches, and security fixes to desktop computers and software applications to enhance performance, reliability, and security.
- Network Connectivity Support: Troubleshoot network connectivity issues, including wired and wireless connections, DNS problems, IP configuration, and firewall settings, to ensure uninterrupted access to resources and services.
- Documentation and Knowledge Sharing: Maintain accurate records of support activities, including troubleshooting steps, resolutions, and system configurations, and contribute to knowledge base articles to facilitate self-service support for end-users.
- User Training and Education: Provide training and guidance to end-users on best practices for using desktop hardware, software, and tools effectively and securely, empowering them to troubleshoot common problems and optimize their productivity.
- Physical Security and Asset Management: Ensure the physical security of desktop equipment and peripherals, including implementing measures to prevent theft or unauthorized access, and maintain accurate records of hardware inventory and asset tracking.
Other Job Requirements/Information
- This job is a civilian position in either a public safety department or in Information Technology with close ties to public safety. Due to the sensitive nature of this position, a public safety background which may include motor vehicle & criminal histories, and fingerprinting.
Grade
The grade for this position is C44(1).
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in a related field; AND
- Five years of professional level computer analyst and/or systems experience, OR
- An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above will also be considered.
