Jr Facilities Engineer

Description:

Flex, a diversified manufacturing partner, seeks a Jr Facilities Engineer to support their Austin manufacturing campus. Flex focuses on innovative product development, diversity, and an inclusive workplace culture. The Facilities / Industrial Engineer will report to the Facilities Manager and manage projects that transform manufacturing operations and facility utilization, ensuring strategic goals are realized.

Key Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with site leadership and engineering teams to develop forecasted strategies for space utilization, analyze capacities, and provide assessments for various scenarios.

• Design process and equipment floor layouts using engineering principles to optimize product, information, and people flows. Coordinate with engineering teams and SMEs to develop utility specifications, assess capacities, and produce CAD documentation.

• Interface with electrical, mechanical, and architectural trades to create project budgets and timelines. Establish priorities for contractors, evaluate change orders during construction, and execute commitments to customers while maintaining quality and efficiency.

• Maintain site reference CAD materials supporting operations, HR, fire life & safety, and update as-built equipment layouts. Act as SME for utilization and capabilities across all areas.

• Support daily site operations through facility work request system, managing resources and materials.

• Assist facility maintenance and engineering teams on critical site infrastructure initiatives, consulting on capabilities and utility requirements, and providing direction for shared resources to support key initiatives.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Industrial or Mechanical Engineering

• 1–3 years of experience as an engineer or project manager

• Proficiency in CAD design software

• Strong project management, communication, and organizational skills

• Willingness to learn and grow with the organization

Preferred Qualifications:

• 3–5 years of experience in a manufacturing facility environment as a Facilities or Industrial Engineer

• Proficiency in CAD design, specifically 2-D modeling of equipment and process floor layouts

• Experience with MS Project or Smartsheet

• Demonstrated technical and leadership experience

• Ability to prioritize multiple simultaneous projects competing for shared resources
