The client is a pre-seed startup focused on building the next-generation operating system for commercial HVAC suppliers and contractors. The startup has launched their first product (V1) and achieved rapid 10x revenue growth in five months. Supported by top US venture capitalists and HVAC industry angels, the company aims to perfect and scale the product aggressively through 2025.

Role Overview:
The Junior Machine Learning Engineer will work full-time onsite in New York City, playing a key role in enhancing the core product through machine learning and computer vision technologies. The role focuses on deep learning model development, production-level code optimization, dataset construction, and deployment pipelines.

Key Responsibilities & Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related fields with ML focus.

  • 0–3 years of experience in machine learning engineering.

  • Proficient in Python programming.

  • Experience with PyTorch for developing/adapting model architectures.

  • Knowledge of deep learning for computer vision, especially semantic segmentation and object detection.

  • Skilled in production-level code development and optimization.

  • Familiar with distributed and parallel training methods.

  • Experience with deployment and monitoring of ML pipelines.

  • Experience working on major cloud platforms (GCP, AWS, etc.) for model development.

  • Capable of constructing and maintaining quality datasets including data cleaning, reformatting, and annotation.

  • Experience with OpenCV or similar computer vision libraries.

  • Ability to implement/adapt techniques from academic or industry literature.

Nice-to-Have Skills:

  • Experience building continual learning or periodic retraining pipelines.

  • Experience with active learning workflows.

  • Knowledge of OCR libraries or APIs.

  • Skills in implementing CV algorithms in low-level languages like C.

  • Experience with CUDA kernel programming.

  • Strong understanding of traditional CV techniques such as component analysis, template matching, key point matching.

  • Published research in state-of-the-art computer vision models.


Compensation & Benefits:
