Description:

Roche Bros. Supermarkets is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Kitchen Manager to lead its kitchen department operations in Wellesley Hills, MA. This role requires a results-oriented individual who can plan, organize, lead, and optimize both materials and human resources to provide customers with a wide variety of high-quality merchandise presented in an appealing manner. The Kitchen Manager will be responsible for maximizing sales and profitability while ensuring outstanding customer service and compliance with company standards and industry regulations.

The ideal candidate will be at least 18 years of age, hold a high school diploma or equivalent, and bring 3–5 years of professional cooking experience within the food industry. Candidates must have a successful track record in kitchen operations, including merchandising, ordering, inventory management, and pricing. ServSafe certification and computer literacy in email and basic word processing are required. Strong communication skills, leadership ability, and the capability to work independently with initiative are essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee day-to-day kitchen operations, ensuring high standards of food quality, presentation, and customer service.

  • Train, mentor, and develop kitchen staff to build a skilled and motivated team, promoting a respectful, supportive, and team-oriented environment.

  • Plan work schedules, assign tasks, and manage labor budgets effectively.

  • Ensure compliance with all company policies, procedures, and applicable federal/state regulations, including food safety, sanitation, dress code, and labor laws.

  • Maintain proper inventory control, product rotation, and expense management to minimize shrink and waste.

  • Handle ordering, receiving, unloading, and proper storage of products while ensuring freshness and availability.

  • Monitor and maintain kitchen equipment, refrigeration units, and work areas to guarantee safety and product quality.

  • Resolve customer issues promptly, ensuring a positive shopping experience.

  • Promote the company’s service-oriented image by ensuring all associates greet and assist customers in a courteous and professional manner.

  • Organize merchandising displays aligned with community needs and company goals.

  • Administer fair and consistent disciplinary procedures to maintain high associate morale.

  • Implement onboarding and training programs, ensuring timely completion of required checklists and e-learnings.

  • Ensure adherence to proper safety protocols, including lifting, equipment use, and chemical handling.

Physical Demands & Work Conditions:
This role involves frequent lifting (up to 50 lbs.), bending, crouching, standing, and continuous use of hands and body movement. The environment includes exposure to both hot and cold temperatures, loud noise, slippery floors, and hazardous equipment such as slicers, fryers, grills, and mixers. Continuous safety awareness and adherence to sanitation practices are critical.
