Lead Data Pipeline Engineer

Description:

Two Six Technologies is seeking a Lead Data Pipeline Engineer to join their fully remote team in the United States. The role focuses on building, enhancing, and managing high-volume data pipelines that leverage machine learning (ML) and large language models (LLMs) to support government, military, and private sector clients in mission-critical decision making.

The engineer will collaborate with Product Engineering teams, Data Scientists, DevOps, and Architects to integrate data science into scalable, secure, and high-performance applications. The role combines hands-on technical work with leadership responsibilities for a small team of data pipeline engineers.

Key responsibilities include developing pipelines enriched with ML/NLP functionality, integrating ML models into applications, building user-facing applications leveraging generative AI and LLMs, operating in Agile environments, creating proofs-of-concept, following security best practices, performing manual and automated testing, and actively participating in code reviews.

Qualifications & Skills:

• Strong experience building scalable server-side applications and data pipelines using Python.

• Experience working with ML, LLMs, and collaborating closely with data science teams.

• Familiarity with Elastic or similar data stores, SQL databases (ideally Postgres).

• Experience with AWS or similar cloud infrastructure, Docker, Kubernetes, and Linux.

• Knowledge of designing, developing, testing, and supporting scalable, data-driven applications in production SaaS environments.

• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in Agile teams.

• Leadership experience or willingness to manage a small team of engineers.

Preferred Experience:

• Platform engineering or ML Ops experience.

• Experience processing, storing, and querying data in multiple languages.

• Elastic or AWS certifications.

• Eligible for US government clearance (TS preferred).
