Lead Fullstack Engineer

Description:

Knovel Protocol is a Web3 literary platform reinventing the publishing world by giving authors and readers ownership, community, and freedom. We’ve built a decentralized system where writers can publish and monetize without traditional gatekeepers—using blockchain, NFTs, and token-based governance to create a community-owned ecosystem for literature.

We’re a small, mission-driven founding team with backgrounds in blockchain engineering, product design, and publishing—and we’re looking for a Lead Fullstack Engineer to help bring this vision to life.

What You’ll Do

• Improve and expand the current infrastructure (you’ll be working closely with the CTO/founding engineer)

• Build and maintain scalable, secure frontend and backend systems

• Build core features such as:

• Book/token marketplaces

• Reader-writer interactions (comments, follows, etc.)

• Subscription + token-based access tiers

• Governance & voting interfaces

• Decentralized publishing tools

• Collaborate closely with the design, product, and smart contract teams

• Help establish the engineering culture and architecture decisions

• Integrate smart contracts, wallet authentication, tokenomics, and NFT ownership into the UX

• Help scale the platform to support 100K+ users over the next few years

• Work autonomously but collaboratively with a hands-on, supportive team

Our Tech Stack

You Might Be a Fit If You…

• Have 2+ years of experience building fullstack applications

• Are comfortable with frontend frameworks (React/Next.js) and backend logic

• Are confident in architecting scalable, clean, and modular codebases

• Have built or worked on Web3 apps, or are ready to dive into Web3 integrations like smart contracts

• Have an eye for user experience and love building intuitive interfaces

• Thrive in early-stage environments with autonomy, ambiguity, and fast iterations

• Have a product mindset and care about UX

• Are excited to be early at a mission-driven company and help build something (k)novel

• Are open to equity-based compensation with long-term vision

• Are early in your career but passionate and ready to grow—entry-level applicants are welcome!
