Lead Mechanical Engineer

Description:

This role plays a key leadership position within a growing engineering team, focusing on mechanical HVAC design for commercial retrofit projects. The Lead Mechanical Engineer collaborates closely with sales, operations, and client teams to drive solutions that improve building performance through upgrades, operational changes, and controls optimization.

This is not a “like for like” replacement design role—it’s a forward-thinking, client-centered position that requires both technical excellence and creative problem-solving. The ideal candidate brings deep experience in HVAC design, energy management, and building operations.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
• PE license (Colorado)
• 6+ years of HVAC design experience in the MEP market
• Proficient in AutoCAD and Revit MEP
• Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, energy codes, and building operations

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead HVAC system design and deliver stamped construction documents
• Conduct field verifications to inform design decisions
• Perform load calculations and equipment selections
• Design HVAC ductwork and piping layouts
• Coordinate with building automation, electrical, and structural teams
• Mentor and manage engineering staff
• Support energy audits and modeling
• Assist in project scheduling, budgeting, and client presentations
• Stay up to date on industry trends and new technologies
• Translate complex technical information for diverse audiences
