Description:

May Institute is seeking a passionate and dedicated Lead Special Education Teacher for its May Center School for Autism and Developmental Disabilities in Chicopee, MA. This role offers the opportunity to inspire, mentor, and make a meaningful difference in the lives of children and adolescents with Autism and developmental disabilities through evidence-based Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) teaching methods.

The ideal candidate will lead and support both students and teaching teams, ensuring every learner receives personalized, high-quality instruction. The position emphasizes collaboration, data-driven teaching, and the integration of cutting-edge ABA strategies to achieve academic, behavioral, and social growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) to develop students’ academic, social, vocational, and self-care skills.

  • Provide leadership, mentorship, and coaching to teachers and teaching assistants, fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.

  • Utilize data-driven decision-making to evaluate student progress and adapt instructional methods as needed.

  • Stay current with ABA innovations and best practices, ensuring the integration of research-based approaches in teaching.

  • Maintain strict compliance with ethical, legal, and professional standards in special education and behavioral management.

Required Qualifications:

  • Education: Master’s degree preferred.

  • Licensure: Current or in-progress Massachusetts State Teaching License in Moderate or Severe Special Education.

  • Skills: Strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, and ABA expertise preferred.

  • Personal Qualities: Compassionate, patient, empathetic, and dedicated to student success.
