Description:
The Department of Secondary Partnerships & Initiatives is seeking faculty for a full-time Lecturer position in biology. This is a non-tenure-track position that will begin in Fall 2026. The selected candidate will teach five dual credit courses, chiefly in lower-level biology, each semester. Candidates should have experience teaching high school.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Teaches undergraduate-level economics courses;
- Works closely with program and departmental administration;
- Prepares syllabi and updates course materials;
- Participates in curriculum development and assessment;
- Delivers instruction to high school students, both online and in person;
- Travels to local school districts to teach dual credit;
- May assist in evaluation of dual credit instructors in the subject area;
- Works collaboratively with faculty and staff to implement departmental programs;
- Maintains knowledge and stay abreast of current trends in learning with research, best practices in teaching, and technological applications in the classroom, including online teaching.
- Plan and create lectures, in-class discussions, and assignments.
- Assess grades for students based on participation, performance in class, assignments, and examinations.
- Assist/mentor students as needed.
Minimum Requirements
- Education: Master’s degree with at least 18 graduate hours in the field is required to teach undergraduate courses OR a terminal degree in the field of study or closely related is required to teach graduate courses.
- Experience: Minimum 3 years of teaching experience.
- Knowledge / Skills: Demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to: Multi-task and work cooperatively with others.
- Licensing/Professional Certifications: Recommended TEA teacher’s certification.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to travel.
- Other Requirements: Flexible schedule.
Preferred Education / Skills/ Experience
- High school teaching experience.
- College or University teaching experience.
- Evidence of teaching excellence.
