Job Description Summary
The Department of Modern Languages and Literatures at Oakland University invites applications for a part-time, non-tenure-track position in Spanish, effective August 2025.
Applicants must be committed to undergraduate education and demonstrate the potential for excellence in teaching undergraduates. The successful candidate’s responsibilities will include teaching 1 course per semester within the department’s Spanish program. The department is central to the University’s curriculum and mission, and it prides itself on its collegiality and cross-disciplinary research.
Experience designing and teaching court and medical interpreting workshops valued.
This posting is to create a pool of interested applicants from which the Department may draw as sections become open at any point in the 2025-2026 academic year. This posting may or may not result in the hiring. Pre-employment screening includes verification of academic credentials and background check.
Minimum Qualifications
Applicants are required to possess native or near-native fluency in Spanish.
A degree or training in Translation and Interpretation or equivalent professional certification is required.
Demonstrated professional experience as a translator and interpreter in court, health care, or other professional settings is expected.
A master’s degree in Spanish or a closely related field is required for appointment at the rank of lecturer.
