The Communications Division of Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) is hiring a motivated Linux Firmware Engineer. Join our team and help define and implement the next generation of Ethernet switching at SEL. Candidates should be familiar with developing in a Linux-based environment. Strong computer networking and security knowledge is preferred.

As a Linux Firmware Developer, a typical day might include the following:

• Lead the specification, design, implementation, and test of firmware/software systems.

• Understand hardware and software interactions, and collaborate with Hardware Engineers.

• Lead the development of designs and test documentation.

• Mentor Engineers, Associate Engineers, and Technicians.

• Serve as a technical contact for internal customers.

This job might be for you if:

• B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent

• Typically 6+ years experience in one or more of the following areas: Embedded Linux firmware development utilizing C/C++. Architecting Software using modern Object Oriented Design. Embedded Linux build experience utilizing Yocto. Networking experience with TCP/IP, Software Defined Networks (SDN), Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP), REST, Rapid Spanning Tree (RSTP). Scripting using RobotFramework and/or Python.
