Locum Family Practice Physician

Description:

Aya Locums is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Locum Family Practice Physician for an immediate opening in Venice, CA, with coverage extending across Los Angeles. This locum assignment is scheduled to start on November 24, 2025, with a duration of 26 weeks. The physician will work night shifts (19:00 – 07:00) in a standard 5-day, 8-hour schedule with no call responsibilities. Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver comprehensive primary care services to patients of all ages, from pediatric to geriatric populations.

• Conduct thorough patient histories and physical examinations.

• Diagnose and manage acute and chronic illnesses, including infections, allergies, respiratory conditions, diabetes, hypertension, and cardiovascular risk factors.

• Prescribe appropriate medications and create evidence-based treatment plans.

• Order, review, and interpret diagnostic tests to guide patient care.

• Provide preventative care, including immunizations, cancer screenings, lifestyle counseling, and wellness education.

• Perform minor outpatient procedures such as wound care, skin biopsies, and joint injections (as permitted by state law).

• Collaborate with specialists and allied health professionals to ensure coordinated, high-quality patient care.

• Maintain detailed and accurate patient records in compliance with medical and legal standards.

• Stay updated on current best practices, advancements, and guidelines in family medicine.

Required Skills and Competencies:

• Strong clinical knowledge across a broad spectrum of primary care and family medicine conditions.

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for building trust with diverse patient populations.

• Proficiency in physical examinations, diagnostics, and minor procedures.

Minimum Education Requirements:

• Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited medical school.

• Completion of an ACGME- or AOA-accredited residency program in Family Medicine.

Licenses & Certifications:

• Active, unrestricted medical license in California.

• Board Certification in Family Medicine (ABFM or AOA).

Experience:

• At least one year of experience in family practice or primary care is preferred.
