Longe Range Planner

Responsibilities

• Prepares long range plans related to land use, transportation, urban design, and development for the city.
• Serves as the long-range planner assigned to one of the City’s six Council Districts.
• Works with elected officials, the development community, local neighborhood groups, civic organizations, and residents to prepare data, reports, and land use plans of a comprehensive and complex nature.
• Reviews development plans for consistency with adopted area plans and the City’s comprehensive plan (see playbook.kcmo.gov).
• Provides guidance with implementation of area plans and the comprehensive plan.
• Exercises independent judgement with limited supervision, leads project teams and mentors’ staff with less experience or knowledge.
• Possesses advanced project management skills and be adept at applying urban planning knowledge appropriately in real world situations.
• Utilizes effective written and oral communication skills and be able to perform complex data/geographic analysis and report production.
