Description:

Syensqo is seeking a dedicated and experienced Health, Safety, Environmental (EHS) Manager to join their 24/7 chemical manufacturing facility in Havre de Grace, Maryland. The EHS Manager will be the primary point of contact for all HSE matters, ensuring strict compliance with OSHA, EPA, and Syensqo HSE standards while driving continuous improvement in workplace safety, health, environmental protection, and security practices.

This leadership role involves managing a team of five EHS professionals, providing technical expertise, conducting internal audits, and ensuring operational compliance. The role requires establishing strong cross-functional relationships, leading the Process Safety Management (PSM) program, and formulating effective strategies to enhance overall HSE performance.

The successful candidate will bring proven leadership skills, technical knowledge of safety and environmental regulations, and experience in managing organizational change. A background in unionized environments, RC14001 knowledge, and Industrial Hygienist certification will be advantageous.

Key Responsibilities:

• Act as the primary HSE leader for the facility, ensuring compliance with regulatory and corporate standards.

• Manage and mentor a team of five EHS employees.

• Conduct internal audits of HSE programs and implement improvements where necessary.

• Provide strategic oversight for the site’s PSM program, including Process Hazard Analysis and Management of Change.

• Collaborate with site leadership and global HSE teams to align with organizational objectives.

• Promote a strong safety culture through shop floor presence, employee engagement, and proactive hazard prevention.

• Drive best practices in health, safety, environmental stewardship, and security operations.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Safety/Environmental Sciences or Engineering.

• 5–10 years of HSE experience within a chemical manufacturing environment.

• Demonstrated leadership experience in managing teams and driving organizational change.

• Working knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and other regulatory standards.

• Strong background in Process Safety Management (PSM).

• Experience with RC14001 certification preferred.

• Industrial Hygienist certification desirable.

• Prior experience working in a unionized environment a plus.
