- Led the Collections and Exhibitions units to achieve their objectives according to established plans, ensuring proper fiscal management of the department.
- Managed and prioritized the exhibition planning process and guided the team in the production and installation of temporary and traveling exhibitions.
- Conducted field inspections of Museum facilities to ensure exhibitions meet standards, addressed problems, and discussed issues with on-site staff and the Museum Operations Manager.
- Oversaw exhibit fabrication and repair work performed by subcontractors. Prepared bid specifications, obtained purchase orders, reviewed bids, selected subcontractors, and monitored ongoing work. Developed and administered contracts following county guidelines.
- Collaborated with the curator to define and implement strategies to build and expand the museum’s collections and develop a comprehensive future collecting plan.
- Worked with donors, scholars, and colleagues both internally and externally, and facilitated partnerships with other institutions to promote stewardship, research, understanding, and use of the collection and museum resources.
- Acted as a resource for addressing patron inquiries, including responding to complaints and managing program and facilities emergencies.
- Assisted with budget preparation and administration, monitored expenditures and incomes, and reviewed invoices and approved payments related to exhibitions and collections.
- Recommended, wrote, reviewed, and administered grants supporting exhibit development and collections management; identified and helped cultivate private support for these areas.
- Developed, implemented, and maintained policies governing disaster preparedness and response related to the collection and exhibits, working with the Operations Manager, Curator, and Safety Officer, and ensured unit staff were trained.
- Developed, implemented, and maintained policies for exhibition management and a departmental workflow application on Smartsheet to improve accountability, efficiency, and effectiveness in executing exhibitions.
- Reviewed and recommended improvements to the Collections Management Policy.- Assisted in implementing capital improvement projects and worked with the Director to manage the reaccreditation process due in 2026.
