Mandarin Language Instructor

Description:

Mundo Languages, a leading provider of immersive and culturally rich language instruction programs, is currently seeking a Mandarin Language Instructor for an on-site, part-time position based in the Upper East Side of New York City.

This role is ideal for individuals passionate about language teaching, cultural exchange, and working with diverse student populations. The selected candidate will be responsible for delivering engaging and interactive Mandarin language lessons to students of varying ages and proficiency levels, in a structured classroom setting.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct in-person Mandarin language instruction using Mundo Languages’ curriculum and pedagogical framework.

• Customize lessons to fit the needs, skill levels, and learning styles of individual students or small groups.

• Incorporate multimedia resources, cultural materials, and real-life conversational practice into lessons.

• Provide regular feedback to students and/or their guardians on progress and areas for improvement.

• Maintain a positive and inclusive classroom environment that fosters language acquisition and cultural appreciation.

• Prepare lesson plans and materials ahead of scheduled classes.

• Collaborate with academic coordinators or program managers to assess learning goals and outcomes.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Fluency in Mandarin (native or near-native proficiency) and strong command of English.

• Previous experience teaching Mandarin to children or adults, preferably in a classroom or tutoring environment.

• Degree or certification in education, linguistics, Chinese language, or a related field is a plus.

• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and classroom management skills.

• Reliable, punctual, and able to commit to an ongoing schedule.

• Familiarity with New York-based students and multicultural classrooms is a plus.
