Manufacturing Engineer

Akkodis is hiring a Sr Advanced Manufacturing Engineer on a 6+ months contract for a client in Minneapolis, MN. This position plays a pivotal role in supporting the manufacturing and testing of Ring Laser Gyroscopes (RLG), MEMS-based inertial sensors, and Tactical Guidance Products (TGP). The role focuses on process development, production support, and efficiency optimization in a highly technical environment.

The engineer will influence the design and planning of manufacturing processes, define equipment specifications, and oversee modifications to improve yield, reduce cycle times, and enhance manufacturability. Responsibilities include providing direct production support, analyzing performance and yield data, applying Lean, Six Sigma, and CAMP methodologies, resolving technical issues, and driving producibility improvement projects. The role also supports the development of new products, test equipment maintenance plans, and fosters a culture of continuous improvement to achieve SQDIC goals such as RTY, BIQ, and COPQ.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support daily production activities for RLG and TGP products.

• Perform yield and performance data analysis to drive process improvements.

• Apply Lean, Six Sigma, and CAMP methodologies for engineering practices.

• Investigate and resolve technical production issues.

• Develop improvements in product design, manufacturing, and assembly processes.

• Support new product development and test equipment planning.

• Ensure compliance with ITAR/EAR regulations for technology access.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or related technical discipline.

• 5+ years of professional experience in a manufacturing/engineering role.

• Strong background in product or process engineering, assembly, and testing.

• Experience with optics, sensors, or electronic assemblies.

• Familiarity with product yield management and improvement strategies.
