Manufacturing Engineer

 

Description:

The Manufacturing Engineer will support the Continuous Improvement Organization under the VP of Continuous Improvement. The role involves planning, implementing, and following up on manufacturing improvement initiatives to enhance productivity, quality, cost, safety, and environmental performance. This is a hands-on, shopfloor-oriented position that does not directly supervise other personnel but supports plant managers, operations supervisors, and area leads.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Work on the shopfloor with employees to document current and target conditions

  • Conduct time studies and identify opportunities for improvement

  • Deploy continuous improvement initiatives using Lean principles (JIT, Kaizen, 5S, Value Stream Mapping, TPM, SMED, etc.)

  • Coordinate with resource departments to implement improvements

  • Participate in Kaizen events, problem solving, and rapid improvement processes

  • Track and sustain improvements following implementation

  • Perform other duties as assigned


Qualifications & Skills:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Industrial Engineering preferred)

  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and teamwork skills

  • Analytical and statistical problem-solving skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

  • Willingness to spend time on the shopfloor and interact with employees

  • U.S. person status required (ITAR compliance)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Manufacturing internship or prior experience

  • Advanced Excel skills, including macros and data analysis

  • Strong initiative and high energy


Work Environment:

  • On-site at Morristown, TN

  • Hands-on, collaborative shopfloor and office work

  • Exposure to aerospace manufacturing processes including castings, fasteners, rings, and forgings
