Marketing Specialist

 

Description:

The Marketing and Communications Specialist (MCS) provides expertise for all strategic communications and marketing initiatives for the Dr. Bob Smith Health Center's (DBSHC). This position supports the DBSHC leadership in managing, and executing marketing and communication plans that promote and advance their departmental programs and services. This includes the promotion of DBSHC clinical and non-clinical services through various platforms such as the DBSHC website, social media, print, video, and other digital communications and marketing applications. This position reports to the DBSHC Executive Director.

Essential Functions:

  • Communication - Develops messages to effectively communicate with DBSHC stakeholders, creates/implements strategic marketing and communication plan(s) for DBSHC, prepares health-related presentations as needed, manages DBSHC social media, helps manage/create content for DBSHC info in University publications, oversees DBSHC Web content and design and initiates/coordinates news release and campus notifications.

  • Marketing - implements DBSHC marketing and promotion initiatives, oversees design, production and dissemination of marketing pieces, ensures all institutional branding/visual guidelines are met, coordinates all DBSHC advertising, employs new and effective marketing strategies and technologies, collaborates with other Student Wellbeing and Support units and engages in co-marketing efforts as appropriate.

  • Liaises with individual DBSHC departments - works directly with DBSHC department directors to establish departmental communication and marketing priorities, this includes coordinating specific initiatives for Counseling Services, Medical Services, Pharmacy, Dental Services and Student Health Insurance

  • Service to DBSHC and University Committees - attends DBSHC departmental meetings as requested, helps with preparation of Health Center annual report and assists in communication of DBSHC surveys, assessment efforts and reporting.

 

Qualifications


Education and Experience:

A bachelor’s degree is required. A bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, journalism or a related field is preferred.

A minimum of three years of experience is required. Experience working in marketing and communication in a university or health care setting is preferred. Experience in marketing, public relations, information communication, journalism or related field is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Editing, proofing, graphic design and content writing skills in both print and digital media required; strong writing skills required.

Candidate familiarity with social media and digital platforms is a must.

Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and design and marketing software is required.
