Material Handler

Description:

Avantor is seeking a dedicated and experienced Material Handler to join its VWR International team in Rochester, NY. This full-time position is ideal for individuals with strong material handling experience and a commitment to safety and efficiency in production and distribution environments.

In this role, you will play a vital part in ensuring the smooth and timely movement of raw materials, parts, and finished goods between production areas. You will work under close supervision to support production schedules, coordinate the flow of goods, and maintain proper inventory records while following all company safety rules and OSHA standards.

Key Responsibilities include:

• Inbound Operations: Unload and inspect incoming freight, verifying product accuracy, quality, and compliance with manifests. Report shortages, damages, or mis-shipments and ensure proper storage.

• Order Picking: Select correct product numbers, quantities, and types while preparing materials for shipping. Safely operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other handling equipment. Package, label, stencil, bundle, wrap, and palletize as needed.

• Outbound Operations: Verify labeling, quantities, and addresses for outgoing shipments. Efficiently load products into trailers, rail cars, or containers.

• Equipment & Safety: Maintain and safely operate material handling equipment. Comply with OSHA requirements and company standards. Perform battery charging, pallet repairs, and general equipment upkeep.

• Inventory Control: Keep accurate records, assist in physical inventories, cycle counts, and ensure proper stock rotation. Perform system updates when needed.

• Additional Duties: Re-box or repackage goods per customer requests, operate shrink-wrap machines, and consolidate damaged goods as required.

Preferred Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED preferred.

• OSHA forklift and HAZMAT certification strongly desired.

• Experience in material handling within manufacturing, warehouse, or logistics settings.
