Description:

MemorialCare Health System is seeking a SPD/MDC Shift Coordinator to join its Sterile Processing Department at Long Beach Memorial Medical Center. This full-time, day-shift role is ideal for a motivated professional with leadership experience in sterile processing and operating room operations. As the SPD/MDC Shift Coordinator, you will take charge of supervising a team of technicians, clerks, and just-in-time staff to ensure the safe, efficient, and compliant processing and distribution of medical instruments.

You will oversee personnel performance, ensure adherence to daily standard operating procedures, and coordinate with Assistant Unit Managers (AUMs) on operational concerns. Your responsibilities will include training and scheduling, inventory control, ensuring sterilization standards are met, and managing communication with various departments including Nursing Services and Medical Staff.

Key Responsibilities:

• Supervise day-to-day operations, staff performance, and work priorities in the sterile processing unit

• Train, schedule, and manage performance of Technicians I, Technicians II, Senior Clerks, and J.I.T. staff

• Maintain compliance with infection control and regulatory standards specific to sterile processing

• Monitor productivity and safe operation of sterilization equipment

• Coordinate technical support and service with other departments

• Establish and manage supply levels and equipment tray inventories

• Perform additional related duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• Minimum 3 years of supervisory or lead experience preferred

• Prior experience in a sterile processing or operating room environment is highly desired

• Strong interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills

Education/Certification Requirements:

• Associate's Degree preferred

• Certification required:

  • California Central Service Association (CCSA) or

  • International Association of Hospital Central Service Management (IAHCSM) Technician Certification
