Mechanical Engineer

CMTA, a rapidly growing and nationally recognized leader in sustainable and high-performance building engineering, is seeking a Mechanical Engineer for its Midwest division located in Fargo, ND. As a part of Legence, a Blackstone Portfolio Company, CMTA focuses on energy efficiency, performance contracting, and zero-energy building projects.

The Mechanical Engineer will play a vital role in delivering outstanding mechanical design services, meeting and exceeding client expectations. This role encompasses a wide variety of responsibilities including mechanical system design, load calculations, equipment selection, and collaboration with project stakeholders to ensure successful, timely, and on-budget completion.

The ideal candidate will contribute to a culture of professionalism, collaboration, and technical excellence while building and maintaining strong client relationships.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct accurate load calculations and select mechanical equipment tailored to project requirements

• Participate in on-site construction meetings to report technical observations and provide guidance

• Prioritize tasks efficiently across multiple projects to meet tight deadlines

• Identify and resolve design challenges with effective engineering solutions

• Engage proactively with clients to understand and align with their expectations

• Perform additional responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications:

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering

• 5–10 years of relevant professional experience

• EIT (Engineer-in-Training) or PE (Professional Engineer) license required

• Proven ability to manage tasks professionally and with high organizational standards

• Strong written and verbal communication skills

• Team-oriented mindset with active listening and collaborative approach

• Desire for continued professional development and excellence in engineering

• Proficient in Microsoft Office suite

• High ethical standards and professional integrity

• Flexibility to work outside normal business hours when needed
