Description:
We’re looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Mechanical Engineering Intern – CAD to support our design and prototyping efforts. You’ll help turn high-level concepts into manufacturable components, assemblies, and robotic subsystems. From early ideation through to test-ready hardware, your CAD work will be at the core of our design process.
This is a hands-on role for someone passionate about turning abstract ideas into precision-engineered mechanical designs.
What You’ll Do
- Create and maintain detailed 3D models, assemblies, and technical drawings for robotic components
- Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and systems engineers to refine designs for functionality and manufacturability
- Support design reviews and integrate feedback quickly and accurately
- Assist in tolerance analysis, DFM/DFA evaluations, and mechanical BOM creation
- Work with rapid prototyping tools (3D printers, CNC, etc.) and vendors to produce physical parts
- Maintain organized CAD libraries and documentation in version control systems (e.g., Git, PLM tools)
- Participate in testing, validation, and iteration of prototype designs
What We’re Looking For
- Pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field
- Proficiency in CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks, Onshape, Fusion 360, or similar)
- Strong understanding of mechanical design principles, fasteners, tolerances, and material selection
- Attention to detail and ability to manage complex assemblies with multiple revisions
- Familiarity with basic prototyping and manufacturing methods
- Creative problem solver who enjoys building things from the ground up
