Medical Assistant

 

Description:

The Medical Assistant provides individualized medical care to assigned pediatric patients under the supervision of a licensed healthcare provider. Responsibilities include assisting with patient visits in person, electronically, and via telephone, maintaining accurate medical records, supporting efficient clinic workflow, and ensuring positive patient experiences.


Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Support patients and providers throughout visits; prepare examination rooms.

  • Communicate effectively with patients and families in person and over the phone.

  • Perform patient registration and document pertinent medical information in the company’s systems.

  • Maintain clinical knowledge, technical skills, and certifications through professional development.

  • Adapt communication and procedures to the specific needs of the pediatric population.

  • Follow compliance, privacy, and safety standards, including exposure to blood, body fluids, and other occupational hazards.

  • Assist with medium physical tasks, including occasional lifting (20–50 lbs) and using mechanical lifting devices as needed.


Education and Experience:

  • Required: High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Preferred: Completion of a formal medical assistant training program.

  • Required Experience: Experience maintaining confidential information and working in a fast-paced environment.


Certifications:

  • Required: Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):

  • Clinical knowledge and proficiency in computer and web-based applications.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Interpersonal skills to provide effective patient care and customer service.


Physical & Environmental Demands:

  • Exposure to blood, body fluids, hazardous medications, and waste.

  • Medium physical work involving lifting, standing, walking, and repetitive motions.

  • Ability to work in a patient care environment safely.
