Dogs and Cats Emergency & Specialty (DCES), a 24-hour multi-specialty and emergency veterinary hospital under Ethos Veterinary Health, is seeking a highly skilled and collaborative Medical Director to lead its clinical and administrative teams in Bowie, MD.
This leadership opportunity is ideal for an experienced veterinarian (emergency or specialist) who is looking to step into a pivotal role overseeing medical quality, team development, and operational success. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving excellence in patient care while fostering a supportive, team-oriented work environment that embodies the core values of Compassion, Collaboration, Education, and Integrity.
Provide overall medical leadership and strategic direction to the hospital’s clinical operations.
Manage and support associate and lead veterinarians, ensuring high standards of patient care and client service.
Devote 50% of time to administrative duties and leadership responsibilities.
Promote a collaborative culture, encouraging cross-specialty cooperation and knowledge sharing.
Drive regulatory compliance and uphold ethical medical practices across all departments.
Partner with the Hospital Leadership Team to manage financial performance, operating budgets, and future planning.
Contribute to recruitment, mentorship, and retention of clinical staff.
Model sustainable, efficient medical practices while balancing business performance and clinical integrity.
Full-time position with a 4-day work week.
At least 50% of the role dedicated to administrative/leadership tasks.

DVM or equivalent veterinary degree with valid licensure.
Proven leadership experience as a Medical Director, Lead Veterinarian, or similar.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Deep commitment to client service, staff mentorship, and medical excellence.
Willingness to contribute to collaborative medical decision-making in a multi-specialty setting.
Base salary between USD 220,000 – 250,000, plus monthly production bonuses.
Total earning potential of USD 275,000+ annually.
$3,000 CE allowance annually + an additional week of PTO for professional development.
