Metro Region Engineer

Description:

As a member of the Director's Leadership Team, this position is responsible for the management and oversight of the strategic planning and operations of the region encompassing all areas of transportation engineering and multi-modal activities in accordance with the department's mission, vision, goals, and objectives. Responsible for the administration, oversight, and approval of the development and delivery of MDOT's programs within the region (Wayne, Oakland, and Macomb Counties). Manage, administer, monitor, and approve financial and personnel resource budgets within the region. Lead, sponsor, and promote process improvement efforts. Lead, sponsor, and promote Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion efforts. Coordinate and perform public relations activities necessary to inform internal and external customers about department programs, activities, and plans, and incorporate MDOT's Strategic Plan into all region programs and activities. Identify, implement, and foster open communications within the region. Oversee the selection and development of region staff and assure periodic and continuous evaluation of the job skills and performance. Select, train, guide, and coach region staff in accordance with Equal Opportunity laws and policies.
