Position Overview:

SUNY Downstate Medical Center is seeking an experienced and data-driven MMIS Manager to lead the administration and optimization of our Materials Management Information System (MMIS) and ERP system (Oracle Fusion Cloud). This is a key management role for the management of our new item master/BPA and plays a pivotal part in ensuring data integrity, managing item master records, overseeing EDI/GHX integration, and supporting our supply chain operations through advanced analytics and automation.

This is a highly collaborative position requiring strong cross-functional communication with Procurement, IT, Clinical Departments, and external suppliers.

 

 

Key Responsibilities:

MMIS & Item Master Data Management

  • Maintain and manage item master records—the ERP’s source of truth—including pricing, descriptions, and supplier data.
  • Supervise the item master team to ensure timely and accurate updates.
  • Collaborate with clinical and procurement teams to align item data with contracts and clinical needs.
  • Establish data governance policies and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Utilize ERP analytics to monitor trends, usage, and inventory levels.

GHX/EDI Optimization

  • Oversee GHX/EDI electronic transaction processes for procurement, invoices, and deliveries.
  • Expand EDI capabilities across suppliers and product categories.
  • Improve vendor collaboration through portals and streamlined communication.
  • Reduce manual entry and errors through system automation and optimization.
  • Maintain EDI documentation and lead user training initiatives.

ERP Management (Moving to Oracle Fusion Cloud, July 2026)

  • Conduct system testing and facilitate staff training for ERP adoption.
  • Manage ERP maintenance and coordinate GPO data downloads.
  • Support consultants engaged is the system implementation process.

Data Analytics & Reporting

  • Design and present operational dashboards and strategic reports.
  • Cleanse and analyze internal and external data sources.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements using data insights.

Supplier Management

  • Manage supplier portal strategy to enhance communication and collaboration.
  • Use MMIS data to strengthen supplier relationships and support contract compliance.
  • Support invoice resolution and procurement transparency.

Required Qualifications:

  • Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Information Systems, Business Administration, or a related field
  • Preferred: Master’s degree in a related discipline
  • Experience:
  • Minimum of 3 years in supply chain or materials management in a healthcare setting.
  • Hands-on experience managing an MMIS or ERP system (Oracle preferred)
  • Proven success implementing process improvements using technology and data.
  • Certifications (Preferred):
  • CMRP (Certified Materials & Resource Professional)
  • CISA (Certified Information Systems Auditor)
  • Certification in Data Analytics (e.g., Certified Analytics Professional)
  • Technical Skills:
  • Expertise in Oracle ERP, GHX, and EDI systems
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and project management software.
  • Experience using automation tools (bots, AI) for process optimization is a plus.
