Model Based Systems Engineer

Kitty Hawk Technologies, a rapidly growing service and technology innovator, is seeking a talented and motivated Model Based Systems Engineer to join its team in King George, VA. This position provides a unique opportunity to work on advanced defense-related projects, supporting critical national engineering and security missions in collaboration with the Department of Defense (DoD). The ideal candidate will have extensive expertise in model-based systems engineering (MBSE) using Cameo Systems Modeler and will contribute to the development of innovative systems and solutions for complex military programs.

Key Responsibilities:

• Collaborate within a team to develop system architectures using SysML and Cameo Systems Modeler toolset.

• Perform MBSE tasks including requirements development, traceability, architecture documentation, and parametric modeling for anti-ship cruise missile test target systems and associated modeling and simulation (M&S) projects.

• Document system architectures and requirements using Cameo Systems Modeler.

• Work closely with Program Managers and Missile Engineers to develop, derive, and track requirements.

• Collaborate with developers and engineers to establish verification and validation protocols for requirements.

• Track requirements, configuration changes, risks, and mitigation plans.

• Adhere to established SysML style guidance for consistency across the project.

• Participate in Technical Exchange Meetings to ensure model development aligns with milestones and project needs.

• Prepare technical presentations, briefings, and reports to communicate model development progress.

• Work independently with minimal supervision while being fully engaged in a team-oriented environment.

• Maintain on-site presence at the KHT office or customer facility (flexible arrangements possible depending on project requirements).

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, scientific, or related technical field.

• Minimum five (5) years of experience in model-based systems engineering (MBSE) using Cameo Systems Modeler.

• Ability to obtain and maintain a SECRET DoD clearance (U.S. Citizenship required).

• Familiarity with industry-standard architecture languages (UML, SysML) and frameworks (DoDAF, UAF).

• Experience using architecture tools (e.g., Cameo Systems Modeler, Cameo Enterprise Architect).

• Proficient in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

• Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to adapt to changing requirements.

Desired Skills:

• Experience with SysML and Teamwork Cloud.

• Background in integrating technologies into operational-level architectures.

• Prior experience working alongside operational forces.

• Ability to lead a team of junior and mid-level engineers.
