Description:
The Department of Space History embraces topics such as rockets, spacecraft and other robotic machines, and includes scientific instruments, space hardware of all varieties and the power plants and systems associated with their operation, the history of astronomy, planetary exploration and space science. With assistance, this position curates the department’s collection and exhibits with a focus on astronomy. The Museum Curator (Science and Technology) will:
- Conduct independent technical research on the history of astronomy and astrophysics, including design, technology, culture and historical significance resulting in publications in peer-reviewed journals or books.
- Serve as a curator to include managing and interpreting artifacts associated with the history of astronomy and astrophysics, including design, technology, culture and historical significance.
- Develop exhibits, especially as related to the history of astronomy and astrophysics, including design, technology, culture and historical significance.
- Prepare technical reports in writing as well as oral presentations to the staff and public and digital outreach on the Museum and its collection.
- Foster relationships across the organization to enhance attention to the history of astronomy and astrophysics, including design, technology, culture and historical significance.
