Network Engineer

 

Description:

We are seeking a Network Engineer (Subject Matter Expert) with extensive experience in large-scale enterprise environments. The ideal candidate will have over 15 years of experience, preferably within financial services, technology vendors, or systems integrators, with proven expertise in designing, implementing, and supporting complex network infrastructures. This role requires a deep understanding of networking concepts and technologies, the ability to work independently and collaboratively, and exceptional communication and presentation skills for effectively articulating technical designs, risks, and decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement, and support complex network infrastructures.

  • Independently lead enterprise-level initiatives.

  • Engage with senior stakeholders across global regions.

  • Present and explain technical designs, articulate risks, and provide recommendations.

  • Support weekend deployments and critical network executions.

Expert-Level Technical Proficiencies:

  • Ethernet Technologies: Deep knowledge of STP, 802.1Q, VPC, Multilayer Switching, Leaf-Spine IP Fabric.

  • IP Routing Protocols: Proficient in RIP, OSPF, BGP, MP-BGP, and TCP/IP.

  • Overlay Networking: Experience with VxLAN.

  • Platforms: Cisco and Arista Switching and Routing platforms.

  • Project Management Tools: Familiarity with JIRA, particularly in Agile frameworks.

Preferred Skills & Competencies:

  • Presentation Tools: Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and design/presentation skills using Canva and PowerPoint.

  • Operating Systems: Proficiency in UNIX/Linux.

  • Automation & Scripting: Experience with Python and Ansible is highly desirable.

  • Toolsets (a plus): Wireshark, Infoblox, HPNA, Splunk, SevOne.

  • Cloud & Wireless: Exposure to cloud infrastructure and wireless networking.

  • Security Awareness: Strong understanding of core security principles, including:

    • Defense in depth

    • Zero trust networking

    • Least privilege

    • Risk identification and controls implementation.
