Network Engineer

 

Description:

The Network Engineer (Specialist or Expert level Hire) serves as a senior technical authority for enterprise network and telecommunications systems. This role designs, implements, and sustains highly available, secure, and scalable network and voice infrastructures while leading complex initiatives and advising stakeholders on network strategy. The role operates with minimal supervision and provides technical leadership across multiple network disciplines.

Key Responsibilities
 

  • Provide operational support for enterprise network and voice systems, ensuring high availability, performance, and regulatory compliance, including VoIP and legacy telephony environments.
  • Lead the design, implementation, and optimization of complex network architectures, including routing, switching, VoIP, and supporting server and virtualization components.
  • Act as the primary technical escalation point for complex incidents affecting network, VoIP, and telecommunications services; coordinate resolution with internal teams and third-party vendors.
  • Oversee and perform advanced troubleshooting of IP, analog, and hybrid network environments, including wire tracing, SIP/PRI transitions, and service degradation analysis.
  • Lead planning and execution of major upgrades, migrations, and lifecycle replacements for telephony platforms in collaboration with server, security, and infrastructure teams.
  • Provide architectural guidance and technical standards for network security, resilience, and interoperability.
  • Mentor and provide technical direction to junior and mid-level network engineers; review designs, configurations, and operational practices.
  • Contribute to enterprise technology roadmaps and recommend new tools, processes, and architectures that improve service reliability and user experience.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of Telephone designs, configurations, and operating procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Serves as a key contributor on critical infrastructure initiatives that influence current and future business and operational outcomes.

40 hours, Monday thru Friday

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and 2+ years work experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.

Preferred Qualifications
 

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Management Information Systems
  • Four or more years of professional experience supporting enterprise network and telecommunications environments
  • Demonstrated advanced expertise in VOIP and Telecommunication technologies
     

Intermediate Or Expert Level Knowledge Of
 

  • Supporting VoIP platforms (e.g., Mitel/ShoreTel or equivalent enterprise systems).
  • SIP trunking implementations and migrations from legacy PRI systems.
  • Troubleshooting skills across routing, switching, voice, and network services.
  • Working with networking, server, and security teams on cross-functional projects.
  • Providing technical leadership and mentorship to other engineers.
