ECLARO is currently recruiting for a Network Engineer in the Virginia area for one of our clients.

Qualifications:
- Should have a solid understanding of L2 switching (i.e. fully understand VLANs, tagging, trunking, AAA, Spanning Tree, etc.) and a foundational knowledge of L3 networking, including subnetting (IPv4 public vs private class A, B, & C subnets).
- Familiarity with routing protocols like OSPF and EIGRP, a basic grasp of Wi-Fi, and a strong understanding of switch installation best practices (i.e. proper network cabling, power considerations, etc.).
- Core Focus: Solid understanding of Layer 2, foundational Layer 3, and introductory Wi-Fi concepts.
- Technical Skills:
- Layer 2 (Switching):
- VLAN creation, tagging, and trunking.
- Port security and access control.
- Spanning Tree Protocol (STP) fundamentals (PVST+, RSTP).
- 802.1X basics and AAA authentication concepts.
- Mac address tables and ARP understanding.
- Layer 3 (Basic Networking):
- IPv4 addressing and subnetting (Class A / B / C, private vs public).
- Default gateways and static routing.
- Intro to routing protocols (basic OSPF and EIGRP concepts).
- Wi-Fi (Introductory Level):
- Understanding SSIDs, channels, and basic RF concepts.
- Wi-Fi standards overview (802.11a / b / g / n / ac / ax).
- Basic AP set up and controller awareness.
- Wi-Fi troubleshooting basics (signal strength, interference).
- Installation & Best Practices:
- Switch installation, racking, and cabling standards.
- Power and grounding considerations (PoE, UPS).
- Network documentation and labeling.
- Tools & Soft Skills:
- Familiarity with network monitoring tools (SolarWinds, PRTG, etc.).
- Wireshark basics for packet inspection.
- Clear communication and adherence to change management procedures.
