ECU Health Physicians and ECU Health Plastic Surgery, in Greenville, NC, are expanding their comprehensive plastic and reconstructive surgery services and seeking a Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) with a primary focus on pediatric plastic surgery. This role offers a unique opportunity to be part of a collaborative, multidisciplinary team delivering high-quality care for children and their families across eastern North Carolina.

The successful candidate will work primarily with pediatric patients in an outpatient clinic, with additional responsibilities in hospital settings, including rounding, consultations, and limited operating room (OR) first assist duties. Candidates must demonstrate strong pediatric experience, excellent patient care skills, and a desire to contribute to the growth of a pediatric craniofacial and cleft palate program.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide outpatient care for pediatric plastic surgery patients, including cleft palate, craniofacial, and trauma cases.

  • Participate in inpatient responsibilities, including rounding, consults, and OR first assist (RNFA required for NP candidates).

  • Collaborate with a craniofacial surgeon, pediatric subspecialty teams, hospital staff, and administrators to support the development of a multidisciplinary cleft palate/craniofacial program with a goal of achieving ACPA accreditation.

  • Care for pediatric trauma patients and broader pediatric plastic surgery cases.

  • Maintain hospital privileges at ECU Health Medical Center, a 974-bed Level 1 trauma center, the region’s primary hub for pediatric and adult trauma care.

  • Engage with a large referral network covering 29 counties and serving more than 1.4 million people.

  • Follow a Monday–Friday schedule, ensuring excellent work-life balance.

  • Participate in mentorship and professional development opportunities provided by an established team of 5 surgeons and 3 Advanced Practice Providers.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Licensed NP (with RNFA certification before OR assist) or PA.

  • At least 2 years of experience as a provider in pediatric care strongly preferred.

  • BLS certification from the American Heart Association required.

  • Strong interest in pediatric surgery, trauma care, and craniofacial cases.

  • Excellent communication, teamwork, and patient-centered care skills.
