Operations Manager

 

Description:

Valmont Industries is seeking a motivated and experienced Operations Manager to lead operations at its Colorado Springs, CO facility. The role involves overseeing all critical aspects of operational performance, including production scheduling, transportation, inventory, equipment maintenance, shipping, vendor coordination, and overall plant productivity.

Reporting directly to the Senior Director of Operations, this leadership role serves as the main point of contact between the company, contractors, and customers, ensuring that all orders are delivered on time, within budget, and meet high-quality standards.

The ideal candidate will bring a deep understanding of Lean Manufacturing, operational strategy, and cross-functional leadership, with a commitment to safety, continuous improvement, and efficient resource allocation in a fast-paced production environment.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and supervise production teams to meet customer demand while maintaining safety, quality, and service excellence.

  • Coordinate production control and manufacturing activities to achieve division objectives.

  • Analyze and report performance metrics on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.

  • Implement Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) policies using tools such as Intelex.

  • Maintain standardized procedures that support Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost (SQDC).

  • Effectively allocate labor, capital, and material resources to meet performance goals.

  • Oversee all operational aspects: labor management, inventory control, shipping, and transportation.

  • Ensure 100% order accuracy and timely shipment execution.


Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 6 years relevant experience, OR
    Associate’s degree with 8+ years, OR
    10+ years of directly related experience in manufacturing.

  • Previous supervisory or management experience in a production or industrial environment.

  • Strong track record of leading high-volume teams and meeting deadlines.

  • Proficiency in Lean Manufacturing techniques and continuous improvement.

  • Excellent multitasking and scheduling abilities.

  • Effective communicator with strong customer relationship management skills.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.

  • Ability to interpret technical documentation such as blueprints, safety manuals, and design specs.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Background in telecommunications, infrastructure, or construction management.

  • Certifications in Lean, Six Sigma, or equivalent process improvement methodologies.

  • Experience using tools like Salesforce CRM, Workday, Intelex, and Workforce.

  • Technical experience in wireless infrastructure, welding, or fabrication.

  • Strong problem-solving mindset and commitment to operational excellence.


Working Conditions:

  • Combination of office and production floor work, with outdoor exposure during all seasons.

  • Mandatory use of personal protective equipment (PPE).

  • Potential exposure to noise, dust, welding arcs, fumes, and chemicals.

  • Some domestic travel (up to 5%) may be required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Regular arm/hand movement, with occasional walking, sitting, climbing, kneeling, and crawling.

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.

  • Visual acuity for both near and far distances and focus adjustment.


Compensation:

  • Salary Range: $86,000 to $136,000 annually

  • Monthly Equivalent: $7166 to $11333 per month (based on experience)
