Operations Trainer

 

Description:

QuidelOrtho, a global leader in in vitro diagnostics, is seeking an Operations Trainer (TWI) to join its Rochester, NY team. This hands-on position is responsible for delivering Training Within Industry (TWI) instruction—including Job Instruction (JI), Job Methods (JM), and Job Relations (JR)—across shifts and departments.

The trainer will play a crucial role in building team member capability through standardized training, skill reinforcement, and on-the-job coaching. The goal is to ensure employees work safely, consistently, and in accordance with quality and performance standards.

This role is based onsite at QuidelOrtho’s Rochester manufacturing facility and requires flexibility to support various shifts.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver TWI sessions (JI, JM, JR) in both classroom and production floor environments

  • Collaborate with production, training, and quality teams to create and maintain Job Instruction Breakdown sheets (JIB)

  • Observe employee performance post-training and provide coaching and feedback

  • Reinforce use of standard work practices and evaluate training effectiveness

  • Support new hire onboarding and cross-training initiatives

  • Document and track training coverage, skill certifications, and resulting performance improvements

  • Maintain training documentation in alignment with SOPs and compliance standards

  • Actively participate in continuous improvement and problem-solving initiatives

  • Foster a culture of standardization, operational excellence, and workforce development


Requirements:

Minimum Requirements:

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in training, operations, or manufacturing (or 15+ years relevant experience in lieu of degree)

  • At least 5 years of experience in manufacturing, operations, or training

  • Experience delivering hands-on training in production environments

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and familiarity with Learning Management Systems (LMS)

  • Strong communication, facilitation, coaching, and documentation skills

  • Ability to write clear job instructions and break jobs into teachable elements

  • Organized, proactive, and committed to employee development

  • Able to work independently and collaboratively in a regulated environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Exposure to TWI methods (JI, JM, JR)

  • Experience in life sciences, medical devices, or FDA-regulated manufacturing


Work Environment:

  • Primarily located on the production floor at Rochester campuses

  • Mix of classroom training and on-the-job instruction

  • May require presence on multiple shifts for site-wide training

  • Requires wearing PPE and ability to lift up to 30 lbs

  • Up to 50% of time may be spent walking or standing in manufacturing settings


Compensation & Benefits:

  • Salary: $80,000–$108,000 annually (bonus eligible)

  • Monthly equivalent: $6666 to $9000
