Outpatient Psychiatrist

The University of South Florida (USF) invites applications for an Outpatient Psychiatrist (Open Rank) to join its Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Neurosciences at the Morsani College of Medicine. This faculty position offers the opportunity to provide outpatient psychiatric services while participating in teaching, academic research, and professional service within one of the nation’s leading research universities.

The successful candidate will contribute to USF Health’s mission to “envision and implement the future of health” by providing high-quality, patient-centered psychiatric care in an academic setting. This role includes both clinical and academic responsibilities, with opportunities for career advancement through the university’s established faculty promotion pathways.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide outpatient psychiatric evaluation, diagnosis, assessment, and treatment for adult patients at the USF Psychiatry Center.

• Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation, including completion of all open encounters.

• Participate in inpatient consultation-liaison call services at Tampa General Hospital on assigned weekends.

• Collaborate with multidisciplinary clinical and academic teams to ensure the highest quality of patient care.

• Engage in teaching, mentorship, and scholarly activities consistent with faculty rank.

• Adhere to university and hospital policies, ethical standards, and regulatory requirements.

• Perform additional duties as assigned by the Department Chair.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited institution.

• Completion of an accredited general psychiatry residency training program.

• Eligible for appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor based on qualifications and experience.

• Eligible for licensure and credentialing with USF Health and Tampa General Hospital.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Demonstrated outpatient clinical experience in psychiatry.

• Strong record of teaching, clinical excellence, and academic contribution.

• Experience in academic medical settings and multidisciplinary care environments.
