Carilion Clinic is seeking a skilled and dedicated Paramedic to join the Radford Transport team within the Critical Care Transport (CCT) unit. This role is responsible for administering life support care and safe transport of patients in pre-hospital and transport settings, including emergency response in 911 settings, ground, and/or air transport. The Paramedic plays a critical role in protecting lives, administering cardiac and trauma support, performing advanced emergency procedures, and ensuring the highest standards of patient care during transport.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assess illness or injury severity to establish medical priorities and coordinate additional assistance if needed.

• Administer advanced life support care including intubation, defibrillation, IV therapy, injections, and invasive procedures per ACLS protocol.

• Provide specialized care including treatment of arrhythmias, respiratory distress, trauma, shock, and pediatric emergencies.

• Observe, record, and report patient conditions, responses to treatments, and significant incidents to physicians or command centers.

• Prepare reports, maintain accurate billing records, and ensure compliance with insurance guidelines.

• Maintain ambulance units, ensuring they are clean, stocked, and in optimal working condition.

• Transport patients safely to hospital and non-hospital facilities while maintaining advanced transport medical knowledge and driving standards.

• Participate in continuing education to maintain certification and stay current with evolving protocols and equipment.

Qualifications:

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent (required); associate degree in paramedic studies (preferred).

• Experience: Minimum 1 year paramedic experience preferred.

• Licensure/Certification: Virginia Paramedic Certification; National Registry Paramedic preferred; AHA BLS - HCP and ACLS required; PALS, Haz Mat Awareness, NRP, and PHTLS/BTLS within 1 year of hire.

• Other Requirements: Must meet driver eligibility requirements, provide a current driving record, and maintain continuing education hours for re-certification.
