Description:
Driscoll Children’s Hospital, a trusted leader in pediatric healthcare in South Texas since 1953, is seeking a compassionate and highly skilled Pediatric Audiologist to join its expanding Audiology team. Based in Edinburg/McAllen, TX, this position plays a vital role in supporting the auditory health of infants, children, and adolescents across more than 45 counties. Training will initially be provided at Driscoll’s main hospital in Corpus Christi, TX.
The Pediatric Audiologist will be responsible for conducting advanced diagnostic evaluations, providing comprehensive hearing care solutions, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary healthcare team. This role offers the opportunity to directly improve the quality of life for children and their families by ensuring early detection, treatment, and management of hearing disorders.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct behavioral hearing evaluations, including Visual Reinforcement Audiometry (VRA), play audiometry, and conventional audiometry.
Administer Auditory Brainstem Response (ABR) testing in both inpatient and outpatient settings, under natural sleep, sedation, or anesthesia.
Dispense, program, and manage amplification devices including hearing aids, bone conduction hearing devices, and cochlear implants.
Provide clinical support in ENT clinics and other pediatric specialty clinics.
Deliver education, counseling, and guidance to families and healthcare professionals regarding hearing disorders and treatment options.
Maintain accurate clinical documentation while ensuring compliance with newborn hearing screening program requirements.
Actively contribute to departmental meetings, process improvements, and community outreach initiatives aimed at raising awareness about pediatric hearing health.
Qualifications:
Master’s degree or Doctoral degree (Au.D. or Ph.D.) in Audiology.
Current Texas Audiologist License (or eligibility to obtain).
Pediatric audiology experience, including cochlear implant and ENT clinic exposure, is highly desirable.
CPR certification (or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire).
Strong adaptability and flexibility to work effectively in a dynamic healthcare environment.
