Description:
The Perkins Workforce Coordinator (Project Staff Assistant) will play a central role in overseeing and executing activities related to the Carl D. Perkins Strengthening Career & Technical Education for the 21st Century Program (Perkins V) at the Rochester Educational Opportunity Center (REOC). This position, funded through The Research Foundation for The State University of New York (RF), is designed to enhance and monitor Career & Technical Education (CTE) programs for student success in high-skill, high-wage, and in-demand fields.
Working under the supervision of the Grant Project Director, the coordinator will lead operational and compliance functions of the Perkins Grant—tracking progress, maintaining data, and coordinating career readiness activities. The ideal candidate will bring solid experience in grant administration, workforce development, and community engagement.
Key Responsibilities Include:
Coordinate daily operations and major initiatives under the Perkins Grant
Monitor and evaluate CTE program performance
Collaborate with REOC administrators, faculty, and Career Services to support grant goals
Maintain accurate fiscal records, submit purchase requisitions, and track expenditures
Facilitate reporting, data analysis, and submission of timely reports
Support and participate in student workforce development activities including resume building, mock interviews, workshops, and employer events
Maintain student records and outcomes in data systems
Engage community partners for workforce services and job placement support
Assist in organizing job fairs, graduation events, and advising sessions
Perform additional duties as assigned by the Grant Project Director or Career Services Administrator
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, economics, or a related field from a regionally accredited institution
Minimum 1 year of experience in grant or general accounting
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)
Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
Strong organizational abilities and attention to detail
Capacity to work in a team-based, fast-paced environment
Ability to work with culturally and ethnically diverse populations
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree in business, accounting, economics, or a related field
2 years of relevant experience in grant or general accounting
Familiarity with Perkins V reporting requirements
