Permits Technician

 

Description:

Essential Functions

  • Maintains harmonious relationships with permit applicants.
  • Determines the acceptability of permit applications.
  • Answers inquiries and instructs applicants as to proper permit procedures.
  • Advises department personnel as to the changing highway conditions resulting from permit construction work.
  • Maintains and tracks all access and utility permits with a computerized record system.
  • Performs duties in compliance with departmental safety rules. Performs all duties in a manner conductive to the fair and equitable treatment of all employees.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Completion of two years of college in civil engineering technology, pre-engineering or a job related technical/science curriculum PLUS five years of engineering experience; OR Seven years of engineering experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong working knowledge of construction techniques, and strong initiative, judgment, and planning skills.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
