Description:
VetsEZ is currently looking for a Portfolio Technical SME to support the CCDSO portfolio on a large federal government project. This role will serve as a subject matter expert in cloud-native enterprise systems, microservices design, and secure software development. The SME will collaborate with portfolio leads, architects, and development teams to ensure the successful design, modernization, and delivery of mission-critical applications supporting the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).
The candidate must reside within the continental US.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical expertise in enterprise architecture, solution design, and modular application development across multiple VA programs.
- Lead the design and implementation of cloud-native microservices using modern frameworks such as Spring Boot and Spring Batch.
- Oversee CI/CD enablement, DevOps practices, and deployment workflows to ensure operational stability and scalability.
- Serve as the technical SME across multiple CCDSO projects (e.g., CCRS, PIT, PCMM), offering guidance on modernization, performance tuning, and security.
- Collaborate with business analysts, product owners, and developers to translate complex requirements into maintainable, secure, and scalable solutions.
- Provide architectural reviews, technical documentation, and mentoring to development teams to drive engineering excellence.
- Contribute to team objectives and take on additional responsibilities as needed.
Requirements
- Master's degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- 8+ years of progressive experience in software development and technical leadership.
- Expertise in Java, Spring Boot, Spring Security, Spring Batch, Hibernate, and microservices architectures.
- Strong knowledge of CI/CD tools (Jenkins, Git, Gradle, Docker, Kubernetes) and cloud platforms (Azure preferred).
- Hands-on experience with messaging and data integration (Apache Kafka, SQL Server, Oracle).
- Proven track record in Agile/SAFe environments, including leading sprint planning and technical delivery.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and leadership skills with the ability to mentor and guide teams.
