Job Overview
The Principal Exchange Architect will be part of a global solutions team responsible for designing, estimating, and deploying Messaging Services for existing and prospective clients through RFP/RFI engagements. The role involves owning solution designs end-to-end, from high-level architecture through deployment and handover.
Key Responsibilities
Solution Design & Architecture
- Own end-to-end design of messaging solutions from high-level design (HLD) to low-level design (LLD) through deployment
- Design solutions that are cost-effective, scalable, resilient, and highly available
- Ensure designs meet availability, resilience, and operational requirements
- Articulate technical solutions clearly and persuasively in both written and verbal form
- Represent solution designs through delivery, acceptance, and handover
Implementation & Migration
- Design and implement Exchange 2010/2013/2016 environments, including Hybrid Exchange
- Lead large-scale migrations (10,000+ mailboxes) from:
- Legacy Exchange versions
- Non-Exchange systems (Domino, GroupWise)
- On-premises Exchange to Office 365 / Exchange Online
- Implement Exchange Federation, Directory Synchronization, and Identity Federation between on-prem and Office 365
- Utilize third-party migration tools such as Quest and Binary Tree
Technical Leadership
- Act as Technical Lead / SME for messaging projects
- Mentor team members and conduct knowledge transfer sessions and technical workshops
- Create detailed design, migration, and transition documentation
Mandatory Technical Skills
Messaging & Mail Transport
- Strong understanding of SMTP, POP, IMAP
- Expertise in:
- DNS, MX, SPF Records
- Message Trace Tools
- Block Lists, Spam Filtering, Virus Protection
Microsoft & Infrastructure Technologies
- Windows DNS
- Microsoft Clustering
- IIS
- Networking (TCP/IP, Load Balancing, Firewall Rules)
- Storage (NAS/SAN)
- Virtualization (VMware / Microsoft Hyper-V)
- Blackberry Enterprise Server implementation and upgrades
Security & Automation
- Knowledge of authentication mechanisms and security (advantageous)
- Strong PowerShell scripting experience for Exchange 2010/2013/Office 365
Certifications (Preferred / Required)
- MS-100: Microsoft 365 Identity and Services
- MS-101: Microsoft 365 Mobility and Security
- MS-203: Microsoft 365 Messaging
- Microsoft 365 Certified: Enterprise Administrator Expert
