Product Analyst

 

Description:

The Product Analyst is responsible for analyzing and modeling existing business processes to understand and document current business procedures, identify areas for improvement, and define those areas for engineering to improve. The incumbent will identify best practices and suggest ways to improve current practices within BAL’s proprietary software and Salesforce platform solutions. Develops recommendations to solve problems and issues related to business operations within the product(s), including Salesforce-enabled processes, data flows, reporting, and user adoption..

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES (Under The Supervision Of The Product Manager)

Partners with Salesforce administrators, developers, product managers, and business stakeholders to support Salesforce enhancements, testing, release readiness, and adoption. 
Uses modeling tools to document the current state of business processes as well as the desired future state. 
Creates detailed Business Requirement Document (BRD) and translate it into functional specifications. 
Responsible for the knowledge transfer of business implications to the application/database developers and project managers. 
Performs feasibility analysis, scopes projects, and works with the product management team to provide input for prioritizing product functionalities. 
Provides analytic support by coordinating data extraction from various databases and data interpretation and trend analysis. 
Provides business process, system support and data quality governance for master data through data coordination and integration to ensure efficient processes and consistent data flows to business and stakeholders. 
Gathers, documents, and translates business requirements into Salesforce functional specifications, including configuration needs, workflows, reports, dashboards, and integration considerations. 
Identifies and implements process improvements in relation to master data processes. 
Communicate with external and internal clients on their data reporting needs. 
Creates product documentation, such as release notes, diagrams for how data is modeled, and spreadsheets for how objects/functionality are connected in the backend of the product(s). 
Evaluates tools and manages implementation projects with 3rd party software vendors (related to the product or product management team). 

SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES (Under The Supervision Of The Product Manager)

Supports Salesforce user acceptance testing, including test script development, defect tracking, validation of configuration changes, and coordination with business users. 
Leads Integration Testing, User Acceptance Testing (UAT – including writing scripts and environment setup), and Functionality Testing. 
Reports bugs found in product(s) through the appropriate channel. 
Has the ability to demo the product(s) and explain product functionality. 
Categorizes and catalogues product feature/functionality requests that come in from business users and/or clients. 
Efficiently manages multiple projects with competing deadlines.

Qualifications

Skills and Abilities:

Experience working with Salesforce CRM capabilities, including requirements gathering, process mapping, reports and dashboards, data quality, user acceptance testing, and stakeholder support 
Strong SQL programming experience with Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 including experience writing stored procedures and defining views 
Experience developing customized reports using a tool like SSRS or Crystal Reports is a must 
Expertise in the use of Microsoft applications; specifically Excel, Access, Visio and Project 
Excellent project management skills 
Experience with web analytics tools like Google Analytics, Omniture or Mixpanel 
Knowledge of statistical analysis techniques such as correlation, regression and time-series analysis 
Ability to work independently and in a collaborative team environment 
Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills 

Physical Requirements

Able to maintain a sedentary position for up to 90% of the work day 
Able to type and to grasp, grip, push and pull file drawers and doors 
Able to walk and climb stairs or use elevator to coordinate with other departments 
Able to bend, stoop, kneel and/or stand to access files and documents 
Able to lift up to 25 lbs of files and/or boxes 

Experience

3 – 5 years of experience working as a Product Analyst, Business Analyst, or Data Analyst 
3+ years of customer interfacing experience – project oversight, customer presentation. 
3+ years SQL Server 2005/2008 knowledge – T-SQL, Tables, Views 
Experience working with data mart, data warehouse, or OLAP cube is preferred 
Experience using SharePoint is preferred 
Experience supporting Salesforce implementations, enhancements, or administration is preferred 

Minimum Education Level

Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Mathematics, Statistics or equivalent discipline
