Description:
QinetiQ US, a global leader in defense, aerospace, and security innovation, is seeking a Product Configuration Engineer to join its team in Lorton, VA. The company operates in over 50 locations worldwide, providing advanced technology and products in robotic and autonomous systems, ground and maritime solutions, and cutting-edge research in artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), and augmented reality (AR).
In this position, you will play a key role in managing and supporting configuration management processes for both engineering and production teams. You will ensure that configuration items and data are properly controlled and maintained across hardware and software systems. As a Configuration Management Engineer, you will oversee multiple projects, serve as a final authority for configuration documentation, and collaborate closely with cross-functional engineering teams to ensure adherence to best CM practices and compliance with organizational and customer-specific standards.
Manage the configuration of complex hardware-focused systems intended for production and manufacturing.
Review and provide expert input on engineering and manufacturing data.
Serve as the primary subject matter expert (SME) for configuration management processes and systems.
Lead a multi-disciplinary team overseeing configuration identification, control, and verification of hardware, software, and related assets.
Administer key configuration processes including requirements development, documentation control, change management, configuration accounting, and audits.
Support and monitor configuration management tools, provide user assistance, and troubleshoot process-related issues.
Conduct system and software audits to ensure compliance with established configuration baselines.
Collaborate closely with project teams during both development and production phases to ensure product realization goals are achieved.
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a STEM field with relevant engineering experience.
Minimum of 2 years of experience in Engineering, Configuration Management, or Requirements Development.
Experience with both hardware and software development environments.
Strong understanding of configuration management principles (EIA-649, MIL-HDBK-61A).
Active Secret or higher-level security clearance required.
Experience using Windchill PLM/PDM systems.
Knowledge of ASME Y14.100 standards.
Prior experience in both development and production environments.
