Product Developer

Description:

TerraMar Food Brands is seeking a mid-level Food Scientist or Product Developer with deep expertise in baking science, functional ingredients, and product formulation to join our fast-moving innovation team in Houston.

In this role, you’ll develop and scale wellness-focused bakery and snack products—ranging from indulgent functional cookies to fiber-rich muffins and next-generation snack formats. You’ll work closely with a lean team transforming global ingredients into functional, market-ready CPG products.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead R&D for baked and functional snack products from concept to commercialization
• Formulate and test dry blends, fat systems, fiber systems, and sweetener stacks for optimal texture, taste, and structure
• Translate benchtop formulations into scalable, co-manufacturable products
• Conduct test kitchen trials, pilot production, and support first manufacturing runs
• Collaborate with leadership to shape the innovation roadmap
• Maintain detailed formulation specs, iteration logs, and production-ready documentation

Qualifications

• 3–6 years of experience in commercial product development (Ideally in bakery, snacks, or wellness-focused foods)
• Formal training in food science, baking science, or product development
• Strong technical knowledge of ingredient functionality, particularly fats, fibers, and sweeteners in baked goods
• Experience scaling products for co-manufacturing and working in test kitchen or production environments
• Proven track record of bringing CPG food products to market
• Curious, creative, and solutions-oriented mindset
• Based in Houston or willing to relocate (on-site role)
