Production Manager

Akkodis is hiring a Production Manager on behalf of a direct client based in Rochester, NY. This full-time, on-site role offers an excellent opportunity for an experienced professional to oversee and optimize manufacturing operations for efficiency, quality, and delivery. The Production Manager will lead a team of operations personnel, ensuring adherence to safety and compliance protocols while driving continuous improvement through Lean principles and structured problem-solving.

This position requires a proactive leader with a technical background in mechanical, electrical, or related engineering disciplines. The successful candidate must demonstrate proven manufacturing supervision experience and the ability to lead cross-functional teams within a fast-paced production environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and supervise production teams, providing regular performance feedback and ensuring team cross-training

• Monitor staffing levels and manage resources to meet production targets

• Enforce safety, quality, and compliance protocols; counsel staff as needed for policy violations

• Promote a zero-incident safety culture by actively engaging the workforce

• Identify areas for process improvement and lead related projects in alignment with organizational objectives

• Apply Lean manufacturing tools and OEE metrics to drive efficiency and eliminate waste

• Utilize structured problem-solving methodologies to resolve operational challenges

• Ensure adherence to KPIs and collaborate with other departments to optimize overall production workflow

Qualifications:

Required:

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related discipline

• At least 5 years of experience in manufacturing supervision or similar production leadership roles

• Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills

• Experience using MRP systems (e.g., SAP or Oracle)

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

Preferred:

• Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, Change Management, and Continuous Improvement practices

• Familiarity with 5S and structured problem-solving methodologies

• Ability to lead improvement projects and deliver measurable performance outcomes

Compensation:

• Hourly Rate: $70–$90

• Monthly Equivalent: $11200–$14400 (based on 40 hours/week)

• Final rate negotiable based on experience, education, and other factors
