Description:
Canadian Solar Inc., a globally recognized solar energy provider and one of the fastest-growing companies in the industry, is looking for a Project Engineer – Construction for its facility in Shelbyville, Kentucky. This is a full-time, on-site opportunity aimed at professionals with hands-on experience in managing construction projects from planning to completion.
As a Project Engineer, you will be responsible for overseeing construction operations, ensuring compliance with project specifications, timelines, safety standards, and regulatory requirements. Once the construction phase concludes, this role transitions into a Facility Engineer role, where you will manage the ongoing maintenance and operational efficiency of the facility.
Project Coordination:
Assist the Project Manager in planning, coordinating, and executing construction projects from initiation to closure.
Monitor progress and ensure construction activities meet quality, schedule, and safety standards.
Technical Support:
Review and prepare technical construction documents, drawings, and specifications.
Conduct site inspections to ensure compliance and quality.
Provide immediate solutions to technical issues on-site.
Budget and Schedule Management:
Monitor costs and budgets; address deviations with corrective recommendations.
Mitigate delays through effective planning and time management.
Communication and Documentation:
Maintain strong communication with clients, vendors, subcontractors, and internal teams.
Prepare and manage comprehensive project documentation and progress reports.
Quality Control & Safety:
Ensure high safety standards on-site and resolve any quality control issues.
Perform regular inspections and enforce safety regulations.
Subcontractor and Vendor Management:
Coordinate material and service deliveries.
Review subcontractor invoices and ensure satisfactory completion of tasks.
Oversee operations and maintenance of all facility systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems.
Implement preventive maintenance schedules and manage facility improvement projects.
Ensure compliance with environmental and safety codes and regulations.
Manage facility-related budgets and execute cost-effective solutions.
Develop emergency plans and safety training for all staff.
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
Minimum 2 years of relevant project engineering experience in construction.
Proficiency with Procore, MS Project, AutoCAD, or similar project management tools.
Strong knowledge of construction techniques, materials, and codes.
Excellent problem-solving skills and high attention to detail.
Willingness to travel across states to visit manufacturing sites and vendors.
Ability to conduct site inspections under varying weather conditions.
Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs if needed.
Ability to stand or walk for extended periods during inspections.
