Description:
We are seeking an OSINT-savvy undergraduate, graduate, or early career fellow for a paid remote 8-week, 5 to 10-hour-per-week project focused on monitoring and tracking far-right extremist activity. The fellow will conduct deep-dive research into online extremist spaces to identify and compile a database of upcoming in-person extremist events, rallies, conferences, and gatherings across the U.S.
The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of far-right extremism, prominent groups, and the digital platforms where these events are planned and announced. This role requires familiarity with OSINT methodologies, threat monitoring, and investigative research in non-traditional digital spaces.
Fellow will be classified as an independent contractor of Open Shadows.

Qualifications
• Strong research and analytical skills
• Proficiency in Open Source Intelligence (OSINT) methods
• Knowledge of far-right extremism, key groups, and online ecosystems
• Familiarity with non-traditional digital platforms and social media networks
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work independently while maintaining collaboration with the team
• Experience in counter-extremism, digital investigations, or security analysis is a plus
• Bachelor’s degree (or current student) in a related field such as Political Science, International Relations, Security Studies, or a relevant discipline is preferred, but not strictly required.
